West Midlands Haulage Event Celebrated 75 Years Of RHA

West Midlands Haulage, a local group of The Road Haulage Association (RHA) celebrated their 75th anniversary with an event at the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, followed by a dinner at the Copthorne, Merry Hill.

The theme of the event was past, present, future and included an appearance of the world’s first 100-tonne truck, a 1929 Scammell, owned by Black Country haulier and truck enthusiast Maurice Hudson.

Representing the future, Guest Truck and Van sponsored the event and displayed two of their alternative fuelled gas-powered trucks.

Guests Managing Director, Rob Spittle says: “Trucks are essential in Britain’s distribution network, getting things to where they need to be and we’re proud to have a long history supplying and servicing vans and trucks for hauliers across the West Midlands.

RHA, Area Manager, Simon Priest says: “The event celebrated the past and looking ahead to the future of the haulage industry. The evening event was organised to raise money for three local charities, the 4 communities trust, the Whitehouse Charity and the RHA Benevolent Fund.”

The RHA is the only UK trade association dedicated solely to the needs of UK road transport operators. It is the voice of the road haulage profession, a champion of its interests and a respected partner to the broader logistics community.
