International Van of the Year makes its CV Show debut

CV Show, Stand 4G10, Hall 4, NEC, Birmingham, 14 – 16 April 2015

Iveco’s International Van of the Year 2015-winning New Daily range is making its CV Show debut, fresh from its success in a highly competitive contest which featured 12 new light commercial vehicles vying for the coveted title.

New Daily secured its victory by a margin of 17 points from the second-placed Mercedes-Benz Vito, also beating the 2.0 tonne Ford Transit into third place.

The launch of New Daily marks the full-scale re-engineering of Iveco’s best-ever selling commercial vehicle, with more than 2.6 million Dailys sold worldwide since production began.

Largest panel van on the market

With New Daily, Iveco has taken the opportunity to further enhance carrying capacity by revising the ratio between wheelbase, total length and the carrying length. This has led to the creation of a range-topping 19.6 mᵌ panel van, offering the best loadspace in its class and a massive 2.4 mᵌ additional capacity compared with the previous largest Daily (17.2 mᵌ).

Represented on the Iveco stand by a New Daily 35C21, featuring metallic blue paintwork and special graphics to depict the array of loadspace configurations available, this key 3.5 tonne model is targeted at van operators carrying large volume items which are typically light in weight. For those requiring a heavier-duty van, the same 19.6 mᵌ loadspace can be specified on models right up the range, all the way to 7.0 tonnes.

The 19.6 mᵌ van is built on a 4,100 mm wheelbase with a long overhang, giving a total vehicle length of 7,500 mm. Its internal load height of 2,100 mm allows even tall users to stand upright in the loading compartment.

It is powered by Iveco’s top-of-the-range 3.0 litre diesel twin-turbo engine, which is capable of producing up to 205 hp and delivering a record 470 Nm of torque. The model on display also features Iveco’s all-new Hi-Matic automated transmission. For more information on Daily Hi-Matic, please see release Ref 15016 within the CV Show press pack .

New lightweight Luton

Iveco’s extensive range of light commercial chassis cabs is represented on the stand by a New Daily 35S13, mounted with a brand new generation of Luton body, manufactured by Iveco DriveAway Options partner JC Payne.

This 3.5 tonne model is being directly targeted at vehicle hire fleets, offering an impressive 1,120 kg payload capacity, or 970 kg when fitted with an optional tail-lift. Iveco believe this to be a class-leading payload combination, enabling hire customers to safely transport the maximum volume of goods in a single journey; making it ideal for customers moving house – a sector which drives a large share of the spot rental market.

The New Daily 35S13 is built on a 3,750 mm wheelbase, with the Luton body measuring 4,200 mm in length. Its 2.3 litre diesel engine offers good all-round performance, producing up to 126 hp and

320 Nm of torque.

New ‘pivot’ model sets class efficiency target

Joining the line-up on display is a New Daily 35S13 van with a 10.8 mᵌ loadspace – a new ‘pivot’ model in the range, offering the best balance of performance in terms of efficiency of load volume capacity and driveability, with a turning circle of just 11.9 m.

Key to this model’s efficiency has been Iveco’s ability to increase loading volume without increasing the overall length of the vehicle, using all-new vehicle architecture and a reduced rear overhang. It has been designed to follow a concept of “smaller outside, bigger inside”, resulting in a load efficiency index rating of 0.57, which compares favourably with the closest competition.

This example of the New Daily 35S13 is on display as a special edition ‘Platinum’ version – a high-spec model designed to appeal to owner-drivers and small businesses eager to experience additional style and comfort.

In Platinum-spec, New Daily comes with the highest level option pack, the ‘Top Pack’, fitted as standard. This includes spring-suspended driver’s seat, air conditioning with climate control, cornering front fog lights, cruise-control, heated electric mirrors, remote control central locking, additional storage compartments, 140 amp alternator and a heavy-duty battery, to name just a few of the added features customers will enjoy.

It also features Iveco’s all-new multimedia and satellite navigation system as standard, enabling the driver to input vehicle weight and height information in order to ensure the optimal route for the load being carried. Iveco’s navigation system incorporates TomTom™ mapping for 43 European countries, as well as a Bluetooth connection, plus iPod and iPhone audio controls.

New Daily Natural Power

The line-up of New Dailys on the stand is completed with a New Daily Natural Power. For more information on this vehicle please see release Ref 15017 within the CV Show press pack .
